Beliefs and Values

Thailand Now is a Wesleyan/Methodist mission organization.

Our Mission

Our mission is to be catalysts, to assist Thai Christian churches and organizations to multiply and to thrive in fulfilling the Great Commandment, Great Commission, and the Great Jubilee.

Matthew 22:36-40; Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 4:14-21; Isaiah 61:1,2; Isaiah 58:6

Our Beliefs

In this section, we share a brief summary of our doctrinal beliefs.

Additionally, as we are a mission organization, and often serve cooperatively with other ministries, we are sharing with you the ‘Three Dogmata of the Christian Faith’. These are the doctrines which we find to be essential for carrying out collaborative, Biblical ministry.

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
– 1 John 4:9-10

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.’”
– John 14:6

All those serving nationally, cross-culturally, and board members of Thailand Now share belief in the core doctrines of the church which recognize:

  • God is our Creator; holy and loving, He is the Source of life, and Sustainer of the world.
  • Humans are formed in the image of God, are designed for a loving relationship with Him, and are accountable to Him.
  • Because of disobedience and rebellion toward God, human nature has become sin-sick, and death entered the world.
  • In and of ourselves, we are powerless to overcome sin’s dominating power.
  • Merciful, loving, and kind, God took it upon Himself to provide the means of our rescue.
  • In Jesus, God took on flesh. He lived a perfect, sinless life, and gave His life as a sacrifice for our sins through His death on the cross.
  • Though He died on the cross and afterwards was buried, Jesus rose again, becoming victorious over the power of sin and death.
  • All who receive Him, who believe in His name, are adopted into God’s family, becoming children of God. By grace, through faith in Jesus, we are justified, receive forgiveness, and are reconciled to God.
  • In Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we receive new birth – becoming new creations. This includes cleansing from guilt and shame, restoration of our relationship with God, and renewing of our sin-sick nature.
  • Through the ongoing indwelling Holy Spirit, believers are given power to overcome sin. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, disciples, are called to walk in holiness of heart and life.
  • Abiding in Christ’s love, we have joy in loving God and our neighbor; sharing the Good News of Jesus with others; serving God and glorifying Him, until we are fully reunited with Him in His heavenly kingdom.

THE THREE DOGMATA OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH

Dogmata – definition: belief, principle, or doctrine or a code of beliefs, principles, or doctrines.

These three dogmata are the essential core beliefs of the Christian Faith.

Just as a three-legged stool needs all three legs to functionally stand, these three dogmata are indispensable and necessary for an organization to be considered truly Christian.

As a para-church organization, we work with all Christian organizations that affirm the Three Dogmata of the Christian Faith. All those serving nationally, cross-culturally, and Board members of Thailand Now believe and affirm the Three Dogmata of the Christian Faith.

Dogma One: We believe in ONE true, holy, and living God, who reveals Himself as the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, distinct but inseparable, eternally one in essence and power. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly and fully God and truly and fully man.

Exodus 20:2-3, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 Peter 1:1-2, Hebrews 1:8, Titus 2:13, John 20:28, Colossians 2:9, John 1:1-14

Dogma Two: We believe that we are saved from our sin through a repentant faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the price for our sin. We are not saved by good works or making merit, but only through a repentant faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8–9, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Galatians 1:9

Dogma Three: We believe that the books of the Bible, Old and New Testaments, constitute the Holy Scriptures. They are the inspired Word of God, the ultimate authority on all spiritual matters, and superior to all human authority, and have been transmitted to the present without corruption of any essential doctrine.

2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21, Joshua 1:8
